AI Video Maker Free: What You Can Take Away Without Paying

Quick answer: A free AI video maker is worth what you can take out of it. On SceneMixer a new account can leave with four kinds of thing without paying: setup images, the storyboard text of the first episode, one batch of three cover posters, and a 5-second preview you can watch and share but not download. A downloadable video file comes only from spending the 50 welcome credits on a short segment, and it carries the small SceneMixer AI badge. This page goes through each export, what is on it, and what buying credits does and does not change.

Most free pages describe an allowance. This one describes the thing you walk away with.

The allowances are counted per account, not per project, and a used one stays used: deleting an image and making it again does not give it back. What SceneMixer gives you for free has the conditions.

The one video file the welcome credits can buy

A video is the one step that is not free, and the sum is short enough to do by hand. A new account starts with 50 credits. Reading a short script is charged at 4 credits for every 3,333 English characters, so a short script costs one unit. Once the read is paid, the sheets and the first storyboard come out of the free allowance. That leaves the video: the shortest segment the editor allows is 4 seconds, and the default tier charges 10 credits a second. So the clip costs four times the per-second price. Subtract the read and that clip from 50, and what remains is the whole of your margin: a second segment does not fit.

To make it that short, open the segment in the editor and bring its shots down until the total reads 4 seconds; the price tag on the card updates before anything is charged. Give a spoken shot enough time to say its line. Do this on the cheapest tier, which delivers at 480P; the price on the button is the price you pay. How to change a segment's duration.

The free preview is a separate thing and does not touch your credits. It is one shot of your own episode, preferring a shot with dialogue, made once per account. Use it first to see your cast move, then spend the credits on the shot you want to keep. The free preview.

What a free file looks like

The badge. It is a small rounded outline with the words SceneMixer AI in white, in the bottom-right corner. It is drawn into the pixels at delivery, so it stays through a download, a re-upload and re-encoding; it is not an overlay the player adds. Its height is about an eighth of the frame's shorter side, which makes it roughly two fifths of the width on a vertical frame and under a quarter of the width on a landscape one. A line of AI-generated-content metadata is written into the file in the same pass.

Two files per clip. The player on the site streams a lighter copy at the same resolution. Download gives the original, which is the file you want to keep and the one the episode is joined from. Both carry the same badge. Download: the original versus the play version.

Where it lives. Everything a free account generates is stored at the site's expense: generated images and videos never count against your storage, and only your own uploads do (and uploads are a paid-plan feature). Deleting is final: the item leaves your account at once and the files are cleaned up about a week later. Download the original of anything you cannot afford to lose. Where your files live.

The free preview versus a finished clip

The preview and a paid segment are both real generations, but they are different things. Do not judge your whole episode by the preview, and do not expect to keep it.

Free previewA segment you pay for
LengthOne shot, up to 5 secondsThe seconds you set, from 4 up to the tier's cap
Which shotChosen for you: a shot with dialogue when the episode has one, otherwise the opening shotAny segment of the storyboard
TierThe lowest-resolution tierYour choice, with the price on the button
DownloadNo download button; it plays in the editor and can be sharedDownload under the player gives the full-quality original
How oftenOnce per account, not once per projectAs often as you have credits

The preview is the cheap way to see your own cast move before you commit a credit; the finished clip is what you take away. The free preview explains how the shot is chosen.

What paying changes, and what it does not

Buying credits and joining a plan are different things, and only one of them touches the badge.

You do thisMore seconds?Badge on new clips?
Buy a credit pack (from $1.49)Yes, at the same price per secondStill on. A pack is not a membership
Join a plan (from $7.99 a month)Yes, from the monthly allowanceOff by default for clips generated afterwards; you can switch it back on

The badge decision is made when a clip is generated, from whether your account has an active membership at that moment. The switch sits beside the model picker in the editor and in the account settings, and it only affects clips generated after you change it. Clips you already have keep what they were made with, and the original and the lighter play copy of one clip always match; to get a badge-free version of an old clip on a plan, regenerate it, which is a new charge. A share link always shows the badge, whatever your plan, and so does a shared copy of the preview. Uploading your own images and voice samples is also a plan feature, and once you have bought credits or a plan at least once the Subtitles switch appears next to Music in the editor, as the subtitles guide describes. The AI badge switch and AI video without a watermark go through who gets a clean file.

A short list to run before you call a maker free

Ask the same five questions of any free video maker. What file do I actually get? Is there a mark on it, and where? How many seconds can I make before it asks for money? Where is the file kept, and for how long? Can I share it without anything being added? A page that answers all five in plain words is telling you what free means, even when the answers are small. If you want the hidden-cost angle on the same question, AI video generator free: seven hidden costs takes it from the other side.

FAQ

Can I download a video for free?

Only by spending your welcome credits on a short segment: its Download gives a full-quality file with the badge. The free preview plays and can be shared, but has no download button.

How many seconds of video can the welcome credits make?

One short segment. The shortest segment is 4 seconds, which costs four times the per-second price of the tier, plus the small charge for reading your script. A second segment does not fit.

Is the free video watermarked?

A free account's videos carry a small SceneMixer AI badge in the bottom-right corner, drawn into the picture, plus a line of AI-generated-content metadata in the file. It is not a full-frame watermark.

Does buying credits remove the badge?

No. The badge is switched off by an active membership, not by buying credits. Members' new clips are badge-free by default.

Is the free preview the same as a finished clip?

No. It is one shot of up to 5 seconds, picked for you, on the lowest-resolution tier, once per account. A finished clip is the seconds and tier you choose.

Do free images and storyboards carry a badge?

Setup images and storyboard text do not. Cover posters do on a free account, and so does every shared copy of a video.

Do I need a card to start?

No. Sign-up uses Google, Apple or an emailed code and asks for no card.

Can I use a free video commercially?

The terms treat output made with a free allowance the same as any other output; the exact wording, with its conditions, is in section 06. This page does not give legal advice.

Do free exports take up my storage?

No. Only files you upload count against storage. Everything the site generates for you is stored at its expense.

Can I get a longer video for free?

No. Video is charged from the first second apart from the one preview. A longer clip is more seconds at the per-second price.
