Starring someone: how a photo becomes a character
In Step 2, open a character card and press Upload & Replace. Optimize into a reference sheet reads the face, hair and clothing from the photo and redraws them in the project's look on a clean background, so the identity details come from your photo and the style from the project. That sheet is then used in every shot. Uploading is a membership feature on the current plan settings. Celebrity, brand and franchise images are refused. The IP check.
From the photo to a movie
- Upload the reference and approve the sheet in your chosen look.
- Write or generate a script around that character (AI Create is a good start).
- Read the storyboard, then render and join the segments at 10 credits a second on the default tier.

In SceneMixer vs. stitching tools together
Most AI drama workflows are five or six tools in a row. This is where each step happens here, and what it replaces.
| Step | In SceneMixer | Doing it by hand with separate tools |
|---|---|---|
| Script and episode plan | Paste a script or a novel, or type one line: it is read into a cast, locations, props and an episode outline you can edit | A chat model writes the script; you split it into episodes and carry the text from tool to tool |
| Character faces and places | Every character, location and prop is drawn once as a reference sheet and attached to every shot it appears in | An image model, one sheet at a time; you upload the right reference to every clip yourself |
| Shots | A storyboard per episode with numbered shots and seconds; video is generated segment by segment in 9:16 or 16:9 against the same sheets | A video model, one clip per prompt, describing the same people again each time |
| Voices and dialogue | Lines are performed in the video itself, one voice per character, in any of 15 languages | A text-to-speech tool for each line, then a lip-sync pass on every clip |
| Fixing one shot | Edit that shot's text and regenerate the segment alone; the rest of the episode is untouched | Regenerate the clip, then re-cut the timeline |
| Finishing | Segments are composited into one episode file with its score; members download without the AI badge | A video editor to join the clips, add music and captions, then export |
| Publishing | You upload the finished episode to TikTok, YouTube, Instagram or anywhere else; nothing is posted for you | Upload by hand, the same as here |
FAQ
Can AI make a movie from a photo?
A photo can be the reference for a character who stars in a story, or product photos can become an ad. A photo does not become a slideshow or a one-clip animation.
Can I put myself in a movie?
Members can upload a photo and have the face, hair and clothing redrawn as a character sheet in the project's look.
Is photo upload free?
Uploading a reference photo is a membership feature on the current plan settings; photos for an ad are the exception.
Can I upload a celebrity's photo?
No. Celebrity, brand and franchise images are refused.
Can I animate a single picture?
Not here: movies are made from a script with scenes and dialogue.
How many photos can I use for an ad?
Up to four photos of what you sell.
What formats work?
JPEG, PNG and other common formats; SVG is not accepted.
Start with the story
Draw the cast, read the storyboard, then bring the photo in as a reference.
