A Leonardo AI Alternative for AI Drama Series
Updated November 2, 2026

Images that move, or a story that plays
Leonardo describes its video tool as one that “puts you in control of motion”: prompts or stills in, short sequences out, with start and end frames to anchor the scene2. SceneMixer does not start from a still; each segment is rendered against character sheets drawn once for the whole series.
At a glance
| Leonardo.Ai | SceneMixer | |
|---|---|---|
| Built around | “Create across image, video, design, and motion”: one subscription, 80+ models1 | One series project: script → cast → episode outline → storyboard per episode → video per segment → one file per episode |
| Video tools | Text-to-video and image-to-video, start and end frames, animation workflows, Blueprints and a choice of video models2 | Upload or paste a script or novel (.txt, .docx, .md), or draft one from a single sentence with AI Create |
| Consistency | “Maintain visual consistency across shots and iterations”; personal AI models you train: 10 on Essential, 20 on Premium, 50 on Ultimate12 | The cast is generated once as reference sheets and attached to every segment a character appears in; paid plans can upload their own image instead |
| Plans | Free: 150 fast tokens a day, Auto model only, public creations. Essential $12 a month (8,500 tokens), Premium $30 (25,000), Ultimate $60 (60,000); yearly billing up to 20% off; prices ex. tax1 | Credit packs from $1.49; Pro plan $7.99/month with 700 credits. New accounts get 50 free credits and 15 free reference images. |
| Video price | Not stated as a per-second price on the pricing page; Ultimate lists “Video Generation for select models at a relaxed pace”1 | From about $0.06 per second at 480P, $0.12 at 720P and $0.24 at 1080P (lowest tier at each resolution, at the lowest credit price). |
| Teams and API | Team Starter $72 a month ($24 a seat), Growth $144 ($48 a seat); pay-as-you-go API whose credit does not expire1 | One account; plan credits and bought credits sit in one balance and do not expire at the end of the month |
Models differ between platforms, so compare a test clip of your own scene, not only the price per second.
What a fixed cast looks like
Stay with Leonardo.Ai if…
- You work image-first — 80+ models and personal AI models you train yourself1.
- You animate stills with start and end frames and ready-made Blueprints2.
- You build on an API with pay-as-you-go credit that does not expire1.
- You work in a team with shared tokens and private team generations1.
SceneMixer fits if…
- You are telling a story in episodes. One read of the script returns the cast, locations, props and an episode-by-episode outline with an end-of-episode hook; each episode gets its own storyboard. Upload a script and read it.
- The same faces must hold from shot to shot. Reference sheets ride along with every segment, linked by id rather than by name. How consistency works.
- Your cast should speak a particular language. Pick it in step 1 and the lines are performed in that language as the shot renders — no dubbing pass. Native dialogue vs dubbing.
- You are adapting one story for a market. The target region adapts names, casting and scenery for Western, East Asian, Southeast Asian or Latin American audiences. Relocate a story by region.
- You would rather pay as you go. Packs start at $1.49 and plan credits stay in your balance. Do credits expire?
Where Leonardo.Ai lands in SceneMixer
| In Leonardo.Ai | Closest step in SceneMixer |
|---|---|
| Start frame and end frame | The next segment opens where the last one ended. Shot-to-shot continuity |
| Personal AI models | Character sheets generated once and attached to every segment; paid plans can upload their own art. Regenerate or replace one sheet |
| Blueprints | AI Create and the script read, which plan the whole series. Upload a script and read it |

Moving a story over
- Bring the script — paste it or upload .txt, .docx or .md; stills you made can go in as character art on a paid plan.
- Set the project in step 1: Type (Short Drama, TV Series or Film), aspect ratio, dialogue language and target region.
- Reuse character art you own. On a paid plan, upload it in place of a generated sheet; otherwise generate sheets — the first 15 on an account are free.
- Draft cheaply, finish the keepers. Generate at the lowest tier, then regenerate only the segments that will be seen most at a higher resolution. Draft at 480P, finish at 1080P.
