A LlamaGen Alternative for Comic Stories as Video
Updated November 1, 2026

Animate the pages, or act the story
LlamaGen's comic-to-video page describes the output as a “short animated preview” in 9:16, warns that motion can alter faces, hands and lettering, and that lip sync is not guaranteed2. SceneMixer never animates a page: each panel becomes a new shot with the character sheet drawn once, and the lines are performed by a voice per character.
At a glance
| LlamaGen | SceneMixer | |
|---|---|---|
| Built around | AI comic, manga and anime art generation; a Comic to Video mode for finished panels12 | One series project: script → cast → episode outline → storyboard per episode → video per segment → one file per episode |
| Comic to video input | Finished comic art: panels, strips, manga pages, webtoon art; split dense pages into shots2 | The script or panel text; members can add a character reference image |
| Output | A short 9:16 animated clip, MP4 depending on mode and plan; length and resolution vary by mode2 | Up to 30 seconds per segment on some tiers; an episode is as many segments as its storyboard needs |
| Dialogue | Dialogue cues and sound can be planned around speech bubbles; exact lip sync and preserved lettering not guaranteed2 | Lines are performed in the generated video itself, in any of 15 languages |
| Plans | Standard $18/month (15,000 credits); Pro $30 (45,000); Unlimited $96 (135,000); Production Unlimited $200 (270,000); annual saves up to 40%1 | Credit packs from $1.49; Pro plan $7.99/month with 700 credits. New accounts get 50 free credits and 15 free reference images. |
| Free limits | 1 custom character, 1 storyboard project, 1 video, 4 panels per page; Comic to Video is described as a paid-plan mode12 | 50 free credits, 15 free reference images, a free first-episode storyboard |
Models differ between platforms, so compare a test clip of your own scene, not only the price per second.
What a fixed cast looks like
Stay with LlamaGen if…
- You want to make the comic itself — strips, manga pages, anime art and a layer splitter1.
- You have finished pages and want a teaser that keeps your art — comic-to-video animates the panels you drew2.
SceneMixer fits if…
- You are telling a story in episodes. One read of the script returns the cast, locations, props and an episode-by-episode outline with an end-of-episode hook; each episode gets its own storyboard. Upload a script and read it.
- The same faces must hold from shot to shot. Reference sheets ride along with every segment, linked by id rather than by name. How consistency works.
- Your cast should speak a particular language. Pick it in step 1 and the lines are performed in that language as the shot renders — no dubbing pass. Native dialogue vs dubbing.
- You would rather pay as you go. Packs start at $1.49 and plan credits stay in your balance. Do credits expire?
- You want commercial rights from the first credit. Our terms give you ownership of the results, including commercial use, on free allowances too.
Where LlamaGen lands in SceneMixer
| In LlamaGen | Closest step in SceneMixer |
|---|---|
| Finished panels | Panel text as a storyboard: each panel a shot with seconds, framing and the line |
| Custom comic character | A character sheet in American Comic, Korean Webcomic or Painted Manhua; paid plans can upload your design. Regenerate or replace one sheet |
| Comic to Video mode | An episode: the shots rendered with voices and music and joined into one file |
Moving a story over
- Paste the chapter — the panel text with who is in each and what is said.
- Set the project in step 1: Type (Short Drama, TV Series or Film), aspect ratio, dialogue language and target region.
- Reuse character art you own. On a paid plan, upload it in place of a generated sheet; otherwise generate sheets — the first 15 on an account are free.
- Draft cheaply, finish the keepers. Generate at the lowest tier, then regenerate only the segments that will be seen most at a higher resolution. Draft at 480P, finish at 1080P.
