A Dashtoon Studio Alternative for AI Story Video

Updated November 2, 2026

Quick answer: Dashtoon's own notice says Dashtoon Studio shut down on 15 August 2026 and is no longer available, and that creation continues on Frameo, which it calls its new platform for AI video and short drama; dashtoon.com itself still offers comics, manga and manhwa to read. If you used Dashtoon Studio to make story content, SceneMixer covers that work from a script: an episode outline, a cast drawn once, a storyboard per episode and video segment by segment, with characters performing their lines on screen in 15 languages. Choose Dashtoon to read comics; choose SceneMixer to make a story into episodes.

Stay with Dashtoon if…

  • You want to read comics, manga and manhwa — Dashtoon's site and app are a reading platform2.
  • You want its creator tools as they continue — Dashtoon points creators to Frameo; read Frameo's own pages before deciding1.

SceneMixer fits if…

  • You are telling a story in episodes. One read of the script returns the cast, locations, props and an episode-by-episode outline with an end-of-episode hook; each episode gets its own storyboard. Upload a script and read it.
  • The same faces must hold from shot to shot. Reference sheets ride along with every segment, linked by id rather than by name. How consistency works.
  • Your cast should speak a particular language. Pick it in step 1 and the lines are performed in that language as the shot renders — no dubbing pass. Native dialogue vs dubbing.
  • You would rather pay as you go. Packs start at $1.49 and plan credits stay in your balance. Do credits expire?
  • You want commercial rights from the first credit. Our terms give you ownership of the results, including commercial use, on free allowances too.

A story you were drawingA script, read into a cast, locations and an episode outline. Upload a script and read it

Moving a story over

  1. Start from the story. Paste or upload the script or the text of your comic, or describe the premise in one sentence.
  2. Set the project in step 1: Type (Short Drama, TV Series or Film), aspect ratio, dialogue language and target region.
  3. Reuse character art you own. On a paid plan, upload it in place of a generated sheet; otherwise generate sheets — the first 15 on an account are free.
  4. Draft cheaply, finish the keepers. Generate at the lowest tier, then regenerate only the segments that will be seen most at a higher resolution. Draft at 480P, finish at 1080P.
A SceneMixer storyboard segment: location, time and weather fields, then numbered shots with durations, asset chips and spoken lines
One storyboard segment: where and when, then numbered shots with durations, the cast in each shot and the spoken lines. Edit the text, then regenerate just that segment.

Frequently asked questions

Is Dashtoon Studio still available?

Dashtoon's page, checked November 2, 2026, says Dashtoon Studio shut down on 15 August 2026 and is no longer available, and that creation continues on Frameo.

Is SceneMixer a Dashtoon alternative?

For making a story into animated episodes with a fixed cast and spoken dialogue, yes. For reading comics, Dashtoon's site and app are built for that.

What happened to my Dashtoon work?

The closure notice says to write to contact@dashtoon.com with questions about your account or your work; SceneMixer has no access to it.

Can SceneMixer turn a comic into video?

It works from the story as text rather than from drawn pages: the script is read into a cast and an episode outline, and each panel's action and lines become shots. Make an AI animated short film.
