AI Movies: Length, Quality and How One Is Built

Quick answer: An AI movie today is a short film or a pilot, built from clips of up to 15 or 30 seconds joined into one piece, with the same cast in every shot and the lines spoken in the picture. The sample films on SceneMixer run from 1 minute 46 seconds to 3 minutes 30. One episode can hold up to 60 segments, which is 15 minutes at 15 seconds a segment and 30 minutes at 30 seconds, a Film has no episode cap, and a project can run to many parts. Quality is a tier you choose per segment, from 480P up. This guide gives the real numbers, what limits them and what they cost.

What the sample films actually are

Every sample on the site was made end to end from a script by the same tools you would use, so their sizes are the honest answer to “how long can an AI movie be”. All 27 are a single episode, between 1 minute 46 seconds and 3 minutes 30, with four to eleven characters and one to four sets. Ten of them in English:

Read the table the way a producer would: this is what one pass at a short film looks like here. Roughly two to three and a half minutes, a handful of people, one or two places. It is not a limit. It is a size that holds together and that one person can finish.

How an AI movie is cut: Film, not Short Drama

In Step 1 the Type row decides how the script is divided and how each scene is written for the camera. For a movie you want Film: slow-paced and atmospheric, no cap on episode length, and the script treated as one piece divided into acts rather than as a run of episodes that each end on a hook. The type is fixed when the script is read, so choose before you continue. 16:9 Landscape is the recommended shape for film, and for the look you can pick Shot on Film for a cinema grade, Digital HD for a clean filmed look, Black & White Film for monochrome, or an animation group. Quality: what you decide per segment

  • Resolution is the tier you pick for each segment: 480P by default, 720P, 1080P, and a 2K tier on some models. Draft low, then regenerate the segments you keep on the tier you will deliver on.
  • Sound is made in the same pass as the picture: dialogue spoken in the video, one voice per character, in any of 15 languages, and music scored for each episode.
  • The cast is drawn once and used in every shot, so a face in the last minute is the face in the first.
  • The file you download is the full-quality one; the player on the site streams a lighter copy.

What it still does badly is worth knowing before you plan a feature. Legible words in the picture are not drawn reliably. A single take longer than a segment is not possible. Wide shots of crowds and brawls tend to blur, so they are cut as close shots. And real faces from photos, famous characters and brand mascots are refused. What one costs

Video is 10 credits a second on the default tier, and joining the segments is 1 credit a second. A 60-second episode comes to about 660 credits including the join, before retakes, so a 140-second sample film is about two and a third times that. Reading the script is 4 credits per 1,000 characters, English counted lighter, and editing text is free. At the other end, fifteen minutes of finished video, ten episodes of 90 seconds from a 30,000-character novel on the lowest tier, comes to about 10,026 credits, about $62 at the lowest credit price, nearly all of it video. A regenerated take is charged again, which is why the cheap steps come first. Where credits go in one episode · AI video cost calculator.

How to plan one that gets finished

  1. Count the places. The samples use one to four. Every place is drawn once and reused, so fewer is steadier.
  2. Write what the camera can show. Actions and spoken lines; a thought becomes a look held or a voice-over.
  3. Make one sequence first. Parts of a film can be storyboarded and generated in any order, so test whether the look holds on one before you commit to the rest.
  4. Fix single shots, not scenes. Edit the text of the shot and regenerate that segment.
  5. Join each part, then the parts. Composite per episode and join the files in your own editor if you want one file.

For a second part that should stand on its own, start a new project with the same look and use Pick existing to bring each returning character across. Making the next episode.
