How the length is built
| Unit | How long | What decides it |
|---|---|---|
| Shot | A few seconds | The storyboard, shot by shot |
| Segment | Up to 15 or 30 seconds | The ceiling you pick per episode and the tier |
| Episode | Up to 60 segments | Type: Short Drama up to 240 s, TV Series 300 s, Film uncapped |
| Project | Many episodes | The length of the script you upload |
A segment is one generation. You choose Standard 15s or Long take 30s for each episode's storyboard, and the shots inside are written to fit. 15 or 30 second segments.
For the shorter end of the scale, two pages work the same arithmetic the other way: 30 to 60 seconds in one or two segments and three to five minutes as one episode.
Keeping it continuous
- Same faces: every character has one reference sheet used in every segment. Same face in every shot.
- Same rooms: a location is drawn once and becomes the set. Same room in every episode.
- Same positions: who stands where carries across cuts. Everyone stays put.
- Clean joins: each segment opens where the previous one ended. Why the next segment opens like the last one ended.
Plan the length before the cost
The rate does not change with length; the count of seconds does. On the default tier at 10 credits a second:
| Target | Seconds | Segments of 15 s | Segments of 30 s |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 minute | 60 | 4 | 2 |
| 5 minutes | 300 | 20 | 10 |
| 10 minutes | 600 | 40 | 20 |
| 30 minutes | 1,800 | 120 | 60 |
Add 1 credit a second for the join and something for retakes. A thirty-minute run is a series of episodes rather than one. How to make an AI video longer than one minute.
Generate a long run without babysitting it
Generate several segments at once, up to your plan's limit; they run on the server, so you can close the page. When all are done, join the episode. Episodes can be storyboarded and rendered in any order. Generate all segments and multi-episode series.
Limits
One continuous take is capped at one segment. A single episode cannot exceed 60 segments. A script longer than one project can read is split into volumes, each its own project. Older model tiers stop at 15 seconds a segment.

In SceneMixer vs. stitching tools together
Most AI drama workflows are five or six tools in a row. This is where each step happens here, and what it replaces.
| Step | In SceneMixer | Doing it by hand with separate tools |
|---|---|---|
| Script and episode plan | Paste a script or a novel, or type one line: it is read into a cast, locations, props and an episode outline you can edit | A chat model writes the script; you split it into episodes and carry the text from tool to tool |
| Character faces and places | Every character, location and prop is drawn once as a reference sheet and attached to every shot it appears in | An image model, one sheet at a time; you upload the right reference to every clip yourself |
| Shots | A storyboard per episode with numbered shots and seconds; video is generated segment by segment in 9:16 or 16:9 against the same sheets | A video model, one clip per prompt, describing the same people again each time |
| Voices and dialogue | Lines are performed in the video itself, one voice per character, in any of 15 languages | A text-to-speech tool for each line, then a lip-sync pass on every clip |
| Fixing one shot | Edit that shot's text and regenerate the segment alone; the rest of the episode is untouched | Regenerate the clip, then re-cut the timeline |
| Finishing | Segments are composited into one episode file with its score; members download without the AI badge | A video editor to join the clips, add music and captions, then export |
| Publishing | You upload the finished episode to TikTok, YouTube, Instagram or anywhere else; nothing is posted for you | Upload by hand, the same as here |
Can you make money with AI dramas on TikTok and YouTube?
Yes, within each platform's rules, and the rules are about the account and the video, not about how the video was made. TikTok's Creator Rewards Program (checked November 2, 2026) is open to personal accounts aged 18+ in the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, South Korea, France, Mexico and Brazil with at least 10,000 followers and 100,000 video views in the last 30 days; a rewarded video must be original, longer than one minute and reach 1,000 views on the For You feed. YouTube's Partner Program needs 1,000 subscribers plus either 4,000 watch hours in the last 12 months or 10 million Shorts views in the last 90 days.
Both platforms require realistic AI-generated content to be labelled, and YouTube states that disclosing AI use alone does not limit a video's audience or its eligibility to earn. SceneMixer episodes are longer than a minute by design, carry an AI badge by default (members can switch it off and add the platform's own label instead), and are yours to publish. FAQ
Can AI generate a 10-minute video?
Yes, as a sequence of segments joined into one file; no model renders it in one take.
How long can one AI video segment be?
Up to 30 seconds on the long-take tiers, 15 on older ones.
How many segments can an episode have?
Up to 60.
Do long videos cost more per second?
No. The rate per second is the same; you pay for more seconds, retakes and the join.
Will characters change halfway through?
Every segment uses the same reference sheets, so faces, outfits and rooms hold.
Can I stop and continue later?
Yes. Episodes and segments are saved; generate the rest whenever you like.
Is SceneMixer like ReelShort or DramaBox?
No. ReelShort and DramaBox are apps for watching short dramas. SceneMixer is for making them: it turns your script or novel into episodes with a consistent cast and spoken dialogue, and you publish the episodes wherever you like, including those platforms' creator programmes where they exist.
