How to write a film script with AI

Brief for AI Create: A ten-minute short drama: a night-shift pharmacist notices the same stranger buying the same cough syrup every Tuesday and follows the thread to a secret she did not want; tense, small, no villain; it ends on her choosing not to call.
The brief is the script's spine
- Genre. It sets the rhythm and the kind of hook each episode ends on.
- Lead and want. One person, with something they are after.
- Conflict. The person or force in the way; a story with no opponent drifts.
- Ending. Even one word (she wins, they never meet again) makes the episodes point somewhere.
- Tone. Cold, warm, absurd, slow-burn.
Before: A script about a pharmacist. After: the brief above. The second one gives the writer a lead, a want, an obstacle, an ending and a mood; the first gives it nothing to push against. Writing the one-line brief · Inspire Me fills the box with an example to edit.
Pick the length for the film you mean
| Option | Script length | Gives |
|---|---|---|
| Mini | 1,000 | One scene, a test |
| Brief | 2,500 | One or two short episodes |
| Short | 5,000 | A handful of episodes; the usual first choice |
| Medium | 10,000 | A short season |
| Long | 20,000 | A full series |
A longer script gives more episodes, not longer ones: the read splits it into episodes of a minute or two. In English the same option is more characters (3,333 characters of English count as 1,000), and the price on each option already allows for it. Read the draft four ways
- Places. Each scene should happen in one place. A segment stays in one place and one timeline, so a scene that hops between the pharmacy, a car and a flat is three scenes. One place, one timeline.
- Voices. Lines have to be said in their seconds, and English runs about three words a second: a 15-second segment carries about 45 spoken words at most, a 30-second one about 90, with nobody doing anything else. Cut speeches into short lines. Shot seconds and timing.
- Turns. The last beat of every episode should change something: a decision, a reveal, a door that opens. For a short drama that is the hook; a TV series can end on a decision left open. Hooks and cliffhangers.
- Thoughts. A thought nobody says aloud and nobody shows cannot be filmed. Turn it into a line, a look or an object, or cut it.
Rewrite the brief, not the draft
If the draft is off, write again with a sharper brief. Each writing is priced on its own, and every draft stays in Writing History, so you can go back to an earlier one. You can also take a draft into a project anyway: the summary, the cast and the storyboards are editable, and text edits are free. After the script is written.
| If the draft… | Say this in the next brief | Why it helps |
|---|---|---|
| wanders | Name the ending, even in one phrase | The episodes then point at it |
| has everyone talking in paragraphs | Name a tone that speaks in short lines (clipped, cold and fast) | Lines have to fit their seconds |
| is too long or too short | Name the number of episodes and the setting and era | Both are the optional parts of a brief |
| has no one to push against | Add the person or force in the way | A story with no opponent drifts |

Short drama, TV series or film
