The default tier is the cheaper sibling; this page is about the step up.
Settings → Model Preferences → Image Model. The choice applies to every sheet you generate from then on — character, location and prop images in step 2, regenerations, state images — until you change it. Sheets already made keep their pixels; nothing is re-rendered by switching.
In the list it carries the Recommended badge. The badge is advice: new accounts still start on the default tier.
Faces carry more of what the description says — the shape of the eyes, the set of the mouth, the one feature that makes the character recognisable — and skin and hair keep texture rather than smoothing out. For a cast that will be seen in close-up across many episodes, that identity is what keeps the same face coming back shot after shot.
The reading habits are the family’s: identity first in a long description, and write what to draw rather than what not to. State images are edited from the base sheet; a redraw from your own photo is always charged and does not use the free sheets.
This tier accepts fewer requests per minute than the default. When many sheets are generated at once — yours, or everyone’s at a busy hour — some wait briefly and the site retries them for you. A sheet that seems slow on this tier is usually queued, not stuck; give it a minute before regenerating.
Every account has 15 free sheets in total (across projects, any type) on a project whose script has been read; after that each sheet on this tier costs 18 credits (about $0.11 at the lowest credit price). A rejected generation is not charged, and most failures are refunded automatically; a few kinds of failure are held until support checks them. Regenerating a sheet is a new charge; the old image stays until you replace it.
Against the default tier at 7 per sheet and SeedDream 5.0 Pro at 25.
Same as every image tier: the description is checked before rendering and a flagged description is not charged; edit the wording rather than retrying. See content rules and checks.
What you may meet on this tier:
| What you see | Usual cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| “Blocked by content safety rules — edit the script or description and retry.” | A word or phrase in the character or scene description tripped the check | Edit the description and generate again |
| “The generation service hit a temporary problem. You weren’t charged — feel free to try again.” | The service was saturated; the site already tried again once | Generate again in a few minutes |
| A sheet that ignores part of the description | Long description; this tier follows the start more reliably than the end | Put identity details first; trim decoration |
| Generate All stops partway | Balance ran out; the remaining sheets were not charged | Top up, then generate the rest |
Down to the default for locations and props, where identity matters less than layout. To SeedDream 5.0 Pro when a description is long enough that its end matters, or for the most photographic skin. Existing sheets are untouched by switching.

No. Recommended is the badge on the tier the site suggests for most character sheets; the default for new accounts stays the cheaper tier.
It accepts fewer requests per minute; at busy moments a sheet waits in a short queue and the site retries it. It is not stuck.
Usually not; the default tier lays out a room or a street just as well for less. Pro earns its price on faces.
It follows the start more reliably than the end, like the default. Keep identity first.
Yes. Switch the preference, regenerate that sheet, switch back if you like.
Generate the cast on the default tier, then regenerate the faces that matter on Pro.
