Qwen-Image 3.0: the default image tier

Quick answer: Qwen-Image 3.0 is the tier every account starts on for character sheets, location images and prop images. It is the cheapest of the main tiers at 7 credits per sheet (about $0.04 at the lowest credit price), it follows a description written in plain language well, and it draws state images by editing the base sheet. Its two habits to know: it follows the start of a long description more reliably than the end, and it does not reliably follow instructions phrased as what not to draw.

What you get for free covers the free sheets every account has before this tier starts charging.

Where you pick it

Settings → Model Preferences → Image Model. The choice applies to every sheet you generate from then on — character, location and prop images in step 2, regenerations, state images — until you change it. Sheets already made keep their pixels; nothing is re-rendered by switching.

If you have never changed the preference, this is the tier your sheets come from.

What a sheet on this tier looks like

Character sheets are full-length portraits on a plain background at 9:16; location and prop images are 16:9. The tier renders at a resolution suited to reference use rather than print: sharp enough for the video tiers to read a face, a costume and a room, with about half the pixels of the SeedDream tiers. Skin and fabric read as real; very fine texture is where the Pro tiers pull ahead.

How it reads your description

Two habits worth knowing. First, it weights the beginning of a description more than the end: put the things that identify the character — face shape, eyes, hair, the one feature nobody else has — before clothing and mood. Second, it does not reliably follow negatives: no hat can even pull a hat into the picture, while bare head, hair tied back works. Write what you want to see. Write the cause, not the result has more on phrasing that these tiers follow.

Drawing from a reference

Two different things happen when a reference image is involved. A state image — the same character in another costume, a location after the fire — is drawn from the base sheet with a short edit instruction, so it keeps the face or the room and changes only what the state describes. Your own photo works differently: the site reads the photo, combines what it sees with the description from your script, and draws a proper reference sheet from scratch, on a plain background in the standard framing. That redraw is always charged at this tier’s price and does not use the free sheets.

What it costs

Every account has 15 free sheets in total (across projects, any type) on a project whose script has been read; after that each sheet on this tier costs 7 credits (about $0.04 at the lowest credit price). A rejected generation is not charged, and most failures are refunded automatically; a few kinds of failure are held until support checks them. Regenerating a sheet is a new charge; the old image stays until you replace it.

For comparison: Qwen-Image 3.0 Pro is 18 per sheet, SeedDream 5.0 Pro 25.

Content checks

The description is checked before rendering. A flagged description is not charged; edit the wording rather than retrying the same text. See content rules and checks.

Common errors

What you may meet on this tier:

What you seeUsual causeWhat to do
“Blocked by content safety rules — edit the script or description and retry.”A word or phrase in the character or scene description tripped the checkEdit the description and generate again
“The generation service hit a temporary problem. You weren’t charged — feel free to try again.”The service was saturated; the site already tried again onceGenerate again in a few minutes

When to switch tier

To Qwen-Image 3.0 Pro when a face needs more identity in close-up. To SeedDream 5.0 Pro for the most realistic skin and for descriptions so long that the end matters. Switching does not touch sheets already made; regenerate the ones you want on the new tier.

FAQ

Why is the default the cheapest tier?

Because sheets are references for the video tiers, not final art; this tier gives the video tiers what they need at the lowest cost.

Do the free sheets only work on this tier?

No. The free allowance is per account and applies to whichever image tier you have selected.

Can I use one tier for characters and another for scenes?

Not at the same time; the preference is one setting. Switch before generating each group.

Does switching tiers regenerate my existing sheets?

No. Existing images stay. Regenerate the ones you want on the new tier.

Why did my sheet ignore a detail at the end of the description?

This tier follows the start more reliably than the end. Move the detail up, or use a tier that reads the whole description.
