The default tier explains the three jobs a text tier does and what the site checks.
| Situation | Pick | Rate |
|---|---|---|
| Anything routine | Doubao Seed 2.1 Turbo (default) | 50% |
| A storyboard failed twice | Doubao Seed Evolving (Recommended) or 2.1 Pro | 100% |
| Dense Chinese script, large cast | Qwen3.8 Max | 133% |
| Quick cheap draft to see an episode’s shape | Qwen3.8 Flash | 10% |
Rates are percentages of the base text rate; the pricing page turns them into credits.
Every storyboard draft is checked for format and language; if it fails, the site asks for one more draft on the same tier before reporting a failure. Long scripts are read in two passes automatically. Upstream busy errors are retried once. So a single failure is not a reason to switch; two in a row on the same episode is.
The storyboard for episode 1 of your first project is free the first time it is generated — on the default text tier only. Generate it on any other tier and it is charged at that tier’s rate. While it is still unused, Settings shows a First one free badge on the default tier.
The default and Pro tiers handle both. For dense Chinese, Qwen3.8 Max is the natural step up; for a hard English script, Evolving or Pro. Reading a script on a cheap tier and storyboarding the important episodes on a pricier one is the usual way to spend.
Only through the storyboard it writes; the video tiers render what you approve.
Doubao Seed Evolving.
No. A script is read once per project; switching affects new tasks, such as regenerating a storyboard.
No. On routine episodes the tiers produce comparable storyboards; the step up pays off on long, crowded episodes.
No. Only on the default text tier.
Read a script, storyboard the first episode on the default tier, and switch only where a storyboard keeps failing.
