Learning from a Sample Project

Quick answer: A project under Featured Projects on the home page opens straight into its first episode in the editor, read-only, with a banner: This is a showcase project, view only. There you see the storyboard text, the segments with their seconds and the clips; play, go full screen, download, share. Press Back to reach the episode list in step 3, and from there the cast, sets and props with their sheets in step 2 and the summary in step 1. Nothing can be changed or generated, so browsing costs nothing. Use it to see what a parsed summary, a good sheet and a storyboard look like before you make your own.

Where

Featured Projects below your own cards on the home page, and on the landing page. They are in the language of your interface where a version exists. Signed out, they still open; signed in, they appear the same.

Step 1: the summary

Read the title, protagonist, era, adaptation strategy and the episode list. This is what a read produces from a script; compare it with your own after your first read. Checking a summary.

Step 2: the sheets

Click any card to open it: the sheet, the appearance and clothing text, the voice. Notice how specific the descriptions are — that specificity is why the face holds across the drama. Writing a description.

Step 3 and the editor

Open an episode. The storyboard text on the left, the timeline below, the player on the right. Click a segment: read how a shot is written, how long it is, who is in frame. Play the clip and match it to the text. Version history is not shown on samples; each segment shows its chosen take. The editor.

The episode timeline: every segment as a card with its thumbnail and duration
A sample's timeline: every segment has a clip, a length and a price it once cost.

What you cannot do

What to copy

The shape of a description; the length of a segment; how much a line of dialogue says; how a storyboard names the cast and props. Then paste your own script and compare your first read with the sample’s. Upload and parse.
