Trimmed, AI-Edited and Redubbed Versions: How They Fit Together

Quick answer: A segment’s Version History can hold five kinds of version: Generated (each time you generate), Reused (a callback clip), and the three fixes — Trimmed, AI edit and Redubbed. Every generation is kept (inactive ones for 90 days). Of each fix, a segment keeps one: a new trim replaces the old trimmed version, and so on. The version marked active is what plays, downloads, shares and goes into the composite; switching between versions is free.

Open Version History on a segment you have trimmed: the trimmed version shows its real length in seconds, next to the generated clip it was cut from.

The five labels

One of each fix

A segment keeps at most one Trimmed, one AI edit and one Redubbed version. Making a new one of the same kind removes the previous one of that kind — that is what keeps the history readable after a dozen tries. Generated versions are never replaced this way; every generation stays until it is cleaned up for age (below).

A fix is always made from the version on screen when you press the button, so fixes can build on each other: AI-edit a clip, then trim the edited version, then redub the trimmed one. Each step is its own version of its own kind, and the history still leads back to the generated clip underneath.

Which version is active

When a fix finishes, it becomes the active version if the clip you started from was still the active one. If you switched versions or regenerated the segment in the meantime, the fix is saved but not switched on; open Version History and click it. Clicking any version makes it active, costs nothing and generates nothing.

The active version is what the player plays, what Download saves, what a share link shows and what the composite joins. Download: the original vs the play version.

Going back

Switch to the generated clip in Version History. Because fixes point back to the clip they came from, that clip is kept as long as a fix made from it exists — the way back does not expire while you still have the fix. Other versions that are not active are cleaned up after 90 days, as before.

Length and the composite

A trimmed version is shorter, and an episode composite is priced by the actual length of each active version, 1 credit per second. AI edit and Redubbed versions keep the length of the clip they came from. Regenerating the segment ignores all of this: a new generated clip comes out at the segment’s planned length. Which segments are joined.

What removes versions

Deleting the segment removes all its versions. Regenerating the whole episode’s storyboard rebuilds the segments, so the old versions are no longer attached; composite or download what you want to keep first. Re-parse an episode: what you lose.

FAQ

I trimmed twice. Where is the first trim?

It was replaced by the second; a segment keeps one trimmed version. The generated clip is still there.

Can I keep two different AI edits?

Not on one segment. Download the first before running the second if you want to keep both files.

Does switching versions cost credits?

No. Only making a new version costs.

Which version is in my share link?

The segment's active version when the page is opened.

Try fixes without fear

Every fix is a version; the generated clip is always one click away.
