Edit This Clip: Trim, AI Visuals or Redub, and When to Regenerate Instead

Quick answer: Under the player of every finished segment sits Edit this clip, with three tabs. Trim cuts the start, the end or a moment in the middle. AI visuals changes what is in the picture — clothes colour, time of day, weather, background people, lamps, a scar, an expression, or who plays a part. Redub changes the spoken lines or the voices. Each one saves a new version of the segment; the clip you started from is kept. None of them can move the camera, change the framing or move people around — for that, edit the storyboard and regenerate.

Open any episode with finished segments, click a segment, and look under the player on the right: the three tabs are there as soon as the segment has a clip.

Where it is

On a computer: in the episode editor, the right-hand pane holds the player. Directly under it is the Edit this clip panel with three tabs: AI visuals, Redub and Trim. It appears once the selected segment has a finished clip and opens on Trim; click another tab to switch. The panel belongs to the segment you have selected — pick another segment on the timeline and it follows.

On a phone: open the Preview tab. Under the player there is a row labelled Edit this clip with three buttons. Trim turns the strip under the player into a trimming track while the player stays in view; AI visuals and Redub open a sheet from the bottom of the screen. Using SceneMixer on a phone.

Which tab fixes what

Trim is for timing problems: the clip starts a beat too early, runs on after the last line, or has a stumble in the middle. Nothing new is generated: what you keep is the picture you already had. Each trim costs 5 credits. Trim a clip.

AI visuals is for the content of the picture when the shot itself is right: the dress should be red, the scene should be at night, it should be raining, the street should be empty, the lamps should be lit, the hero should have a scar, the face should look terrified, or a different character should be in that place. It re-renders the clip from itself and costs 2× the per-second price of the tier the clip was made on. What AI visuals can change.

Redub is for the sound of the dialogue: a line should say something else, or a character should have a different voice. Lip sync keeps the picture and moves the mouths to the new audio (1 credit per second of clip); Re-perform plays the clip again with the new lines, at the same price as AI visuals. Change a line after the video is made.

When to regenerate instead

All three tabs start from the clip you already have, so they keep how it was shot. They cannot change the framing (close-up versus wide), the camera angle, where people stand or which way they face, and they cannot remove a person who should not be there or fix text that appeared in the picture. Those come from the storyboard: edit the shot and generate the segment again. When a shot comes out wrong and How to fix one shot.

Price matters too. AI visuals is charged at twice the per-second price of the clip’s tier, so on the higher tiers one edit can cost more than generating the segment again on a cheaper tier. What each fix costs.

What happens to the clip you started from

Nothing. Every fix is saved as a new version of the segment, labelled Trimmed, AI edit or Redubbed in Version History. If the clip you edited is still the one showing when the fix finishes, the new version becomes the active one straight away; otherwise it waits in the history for you to switch to. A segment keeps one version of each kind: a second trim replaces the first trimmed version, and so on. The generated clip a fix was made from stays for as long as that fix exists. Trimmed, AI-edited and redubbed versions.

When the tabs are not available

While the segment is still generating, while its episode’s storyboard is being generated, and while another AI visuals or redub change to the same clip is running, those tabs say so and wait. A few older clips, made by an earlier version of the site, ask you to regenerate them first. Ad projects in advanced mode have all three tabs; in an ad, Lip sync replaces the whole soundtrack, so the ad’s music goes with it. In sample projects the panel is shown for reference but greyed out. Every message in the panel.

FAQ

Do these fixes change my storyboard?

Trim and AI visuals do not. Redub writes a changed line back into the storyboard text, so the next regeneration says the new line too.

Can I undo a fix?

Yes. Open Version History and switch back to the version you started from; switching is free.

Can I combine them?

Yes, one after another: for example AI visuals first, then Trim on the edited version. Each is charged on its own.

Am I charged if a fix fails?

No. The credits are held when you press the button and come back if the fix does not go through. A trim costs 5 credits; the button shows the price before you press.

Does the fixed clip carry the AI badge?

A trimmed clip keeps whatever the clip had. AI visuals and Redub follow the same rule as generating: the badge is added or left off according to your plan and your AI badge setting.

Fix the clip you have

Trim, change the picture or change the lines, and keep the original either way.
