A Neolemon Alternative for Animated Story Video
Updated November 2, 2026

Pictures on a page, or a story that plays
Neolemon's home page walks through four steps — illustrate your character, create consistent variations, compose your scenes, assemble and publish2 — and sells one plan, with 600 credits a month1. SceneMixer starts from the same kind of story but produces video: the character sheet is the start, not the end.
At a glance
| Neolemon | SceneMixer | |
|---|---|---|
| Built around | Illustrated children's books: consistent cartoon characters, a multi-character scene creator, speech bubbles, covers and print-ready export2 | One series project: script → cast → episode outline → storyboard per episode → video per segment → one file per episode |
| Output | Book pages as print-ready PDFs (300 DPI, trim and bleed) for Amazon KDP, or a flipbook; video is not described on the pages we read2 | One video file per episode, with the lines spoken on screen |
| Consistency | Change pose, outfit, expression or background with editors while the character stays consistent; photo-to-cartoon avatars12 | The cast is generated once as reference sheets and attached to every segment a character appears in; paid plans can upload their own image instead |
| Plans | Creator plan $29 a month, billed monthly: 600 credits (up to 150 generations), commercial use included, credits do not roll over1 | Credit packs from $1.49; Pro plan $7.99/month with 700 credits. New accounts get 50 free credits and 15 free reference images. |
| Free | Sign in free with 20 credits for image generation; 5 illustrations free, no card1 | 50 free credits and 15 free reference images for new accounts |
Models differ between platforms, so compare a test clip of your own scene, not only the price per second.
What a fixed cast looks like
Stay with Neolemon if…
- You are making a printed picture book — print-ready PDFs with trim and bleed, KDP upload and a flipbook2.
- You need still illustrations, not video — characters, scenes and covers for each page2.
- You want cartoon versions of people or pets — its photo-to-cartoon avatar creator is listed on the plan1.
- You want one simple plan with commercial use — one price, monthly billing only1.
SceneMixer fits if…
- The same faces must hold from shot to shot. Reference sheets ride along with every segment, linked by id rather than by name. How consistency works.
- Your cast should speak a particular language. Pick it in step 1 and the lines are performed in that language as the shot renders — no dubbing pass. Native dialogue vs dubbing.
- You are adapting one story for a market. The target region adapts names, casting and scenery for Western, East Asian, Southeast Asian or Latin American audiences. Relocate a story by region.
- You would rather pay as you go. Packs start at $1.49 and plan credits stay in your balance. Do credits expire?
- You want commercial rights from the first credit. Our terms give you ownership of the results, including commercial use, on free allowances too.
- You want the story to move and speak. A children's story can become animated episodes with lines spoken on screen. AI kids' story video generator · Make an AI animated short film

Moving a story over
- Bring the story — paste the text of your book or one sentence for AI Create; character art you made can be uploaded as a reference on a paid plan.
- Set the project in step 1: Type (Short Drama, TV Series or Film), aspect ratio, dialogue language and target region.
- Reuse character art you own. On a paid plan, upload it in place of a generated sheet; otherwise generate sheets — the first 15 on an account are free.
- Draft cheaply, finish the keepers. Generate at the lowest tier, then regenerate only the segments that will be seen most at a higher resolution. Draft at 480P, finish at 1080P.
