Good first use: a clip whose last line ends a second before the clip does. Pull the end handle back to just after the line and save.
Open the Preview tab, pick the segment, and tap Trim under the player. The strip of segments below the player turns into a trimming track, while the player stays in view and follows the handles as you drag. The same controls are there: Keep or Remove, the track, − and + for each end, Preview and Save. Close the trimming mode to get the segment strip back.
The new version contains exactly the frames between the handles, with the sound cut at the same points — nothing is generated again, so the picture and voices are the ones you already had. It appears in Version History labelled Trimmed. If the clip you trimmed is still the one showing when the trim finishes, the trimmed version becomes active straight away; otherwise it waits in the history.
Your storyboard does not change, and neither does the segment’s planned length. If you regenerate the segment later, the new clip comes out at the full planned length again and is priced by it. How the versions fit together.
A segment keeps one trimmed version. If you trim again, the new trim is cut from whatever version is on screen — which may be the trimmed one — and replaces the previous trimmed version. The generated clip is never touched, so the way back is always there: switch to it in Version History.
Composite joins each segment’s active version and is priced by the total length, 1 credit per second. A trimmed segment counts at its trimmed length, so trimming dead air also makes the episode a little cheaper to composite. Download and share also use the active version. Which segments are joined.
At least one second must remain; when a handle reaches that limit the panel says Keep at least 1s. A clip that is one second or shorter cannot be trimmed. You cannot trim while the segment is generating or while the episode’s storyboard is being generated, and one trim per segment runs at a time. There is also an hourly limit on trims per account. Every message and what to do.
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Keep / Remove | Keep = the handles mark what stays. Remove = they mark what is cut out |
| Handles on the track | Drag to set the start and the end; the player follows |
| − / + next to Start and End | Move that handle half a second back or forward |
| Preview | Plays only what will be kept, then stops |
| Save · price | Makes the trimmed version; 5 credits, refunded if it fails |
Not visibly. The kept frames are saved again at high quality; nothing is generated again.
Yes. The second trim replaces the first trimmed version; the generated clip stays in Version History.
The active version changed while the trim was running, for example because you switched versions. The trimmed version is in Version History; switch to it.
No. Trim only cuts. Composite joins segments with straight cuts.
No. Sample projects are read-only: the panel is shown but greyed out. Trim your own copy of a project instead.
Two handles, one preview, one save. The original stays in Version History.
