Drone shot AI video

A shot to paste into the storyboard and try: [Shot 1] 5s: High wide shot, moving forward over a fishing harbour at dawn; small boats below, mist on the water. Ambient: gulls and a distant engine.
A drone shot, written as a shot
A storyboard shot is a marker with its seconds, a framing, whether the camera moves and how, who or what is in the picture, the one thing that happens, and the sound. A drone shot is the framing high wide shot plus a movement, over a place. It is the “aerial” row in the camera-moves guide, and every line below follows that grammar: one framing and one movement per shot.
| The drone shot | Write it as | Seconds |
|---|---|---|
| Flyover that opens a scene | High wide shot, moving forward over a fishing harbour at dawn; small boats below. | 4–6 |
| Rise to reveal | High wide shot, the camera rising straight up from the cliff edge; the whole bay opens out below. | 4–5 |
| Pull-back reveal | Wide shot, pulling back from the lone figure on the roof to show the empty city around them. | 3–5 |
| Orbit | High angle, the camera circles the lighthouse once, slowly; waves below. | 4–6 |
| Overhead track | Shot straight down; the camera moves along above @Mara as she runs, the street sweeping backward beneath her. | 3–5 |
| Descent into a place | Wide shot, the camera descending toward the market square; stalls and awnings growing larger. | 3–4 |
Write what the viewer sees and where things are. “Slight” and “very slow” moves tend to come out as a still shot, so make the move clear enough to see and say which way it goes. How to write one shot.
Two built-in moves that come close
Of the eight special camera moves the storyboard can apply, two are straight down from above, which is the nearest thing to a drone move that is built in:
- Overhead track. The camera moves along above one person, keeping them centred while the ground sweeps backward beneath them. It is meant for someone walking away alone, running or being chased; the shot needs at least 2.5 seconds.
- Overhead spin and rise. Shot straight down, the camera turns slowly clockwise while rising, and the person shrinks in the middle of the frame. It is meant for someone lying on the ground and helpless; at least 3 seconds.
Both need one clear subject in frame, and both are applied by the storyboard at matching story moments rather than chosen from a menu. They are part of the shot text, so you can read them, edit them or take them out. All eight special moves.
FPV: a run is short shots, not one flight
A real FPV drone flies one unbroken line through gaps and around corners. Here a move that changes direction mid-line reads as two moves, and two shots of the same place at the same framing look like a skip, so an FPV run is written as a short chain, each shot with one movement and a different framing from the one before:
| Shot | Write |
|---|---|
| 1 | [Shot 1] 3s: Low tracking shot, moving fast forward along an empty alley between warehouse walls. Ambient: wind rushing past, a distant siren. |
| 2 | [Shot 2] 2s: High angle, the camera diving through the open loading-bay shutter. Ambient: the wind drops to an echo. |
| 3 | [Shot 3] 3s: Wide shot, low and handheld, moving forward across the warehouse floor between stacked crates. |
| 4 | [Shot 4] 2s: Close-up from a low angle, rushing toward the lit window at the far end. Ambient: the siren, louder. |
That is ten seconds of “flight” made of four cuts, and the cuts are the honest price. If you need it unbroken, write one shot with one move (moving fast forward along the alley) and hold it for the seconds it needs; the segment can only be as long as the tier allows (below). Two seconds is the usual floor for a shot; shorter than that tends to read as a flicker. Shot seconds and timing.
Choose the segment length first
A drone glide wants seconds, and the segment is what is generated at once. The segment length is set per episode in Step 3 (Standard 15s or Long take 30s), and the tier has to be able to deliver it:
| Video tier family | Longest segment |
|---|---|
| Wan 3.0 (480P / 720P / 1080P) | 30 seconds |
| Seedance 2.5 | 30 seconds |
| Seedance 2.0 | 15 seconds |
| MiniMax H3 | 15 seconds |
The same shot text goes to every tier, and none of the tier guides on this site ranks the tiers for aerial shots, so this page does not claim one looks better. What it does say: draft the shot on the default tier at 10 credits a second, judge whether the camera went where the line said, and only then spend a sharper tier on it. Which tier for what · 15 or 30 seconds · Draft cheap, finish sharp.
One more rule shapes a flight: a segment stays in one place and one timeline. A glide from the harbour to the old town is two segments, one place each. A segment stays in one place.
Give the camera a place that can be flown over
A moving camera shows every vague part of a place. The place comes from the scene you set up (its sheet and its description), not from a map, so write where things are: water on the left, the old town on the right, the lighthouse at the far end of the breakwater. The scene style sets the look: Pastoral Healing for fields and villages, Medieval Castle for ramparts and keeps, American Small Town for a main street, Neon Nights for a city after dark. Your scene image becomes the set · Scene styles, one by one.
What it cannot do
- No flight controls. There are no waypoints, no altitude or speed values and no gimbal settings; the move is the words in the shot.
- No real map. It will not fly over a real address or a real skyline you name; the place is drawn from your scene description.
- No drone footage in. Uploads are references, not source clips; your own flights cannot be edited here. What you can feed in.
- No readable lettering. Street names, signs and map labels are not drawn reliably. Text on screen.
- No free test of the shot. The free 5-second preview is one shot picked for you, once per account, so it will not be your aerial unless it happens to be the opening shot. Generate the aerial as its own segment on the default tier instead. The free preview.
Make it in SceneMixer, start to finish
- Script: paste your own on Upload Script, or write the brief above in AI Create and let it draft the episodes.
- Step 1: Type Film; Scene Style Pastoral Healing, American Small Town; Costume Style Soft Everyday, Smart Casual; Visual Style Digital HD, Shot on Film; Target Region; dialogue language; 16:9 Landscape. Then read the script.
- Step 2: Draw the place the camera flies over as a scene, with where things are written in; name the one person the camera finds, if any. The first 15 setup images on an account are free.
- Storyboard: generate episode 1 first (free on your first drama) and read it before you render anything. One place per segment.
- Video: render on the default tier at 10 credits a second, fix single shots instead of whole episodes, then put the episode together and post.
| Move | Camera line | Built in? |

| Overhead track | Straight down, moving along above one person | Yes, at least 2.5 seconds |

| FPV run | Short low or high shots, one move each, different framing every cut | Written as a chain |
FAQ
Can I make a drone shot with AI video?
Yes, as text: write a high wide shot with one movement over a place you have set up. There is no drone mode or flight-path editor.
How do I write an FPV drone shot?
As a chain of short shots, two or three seconds each, one movement per shot and a different framing every cut. A single unbroken FPV flight is not something the shot text can promise.
Does SceneMixer have a drone camera move built in?
Not by that name. Two of the eight built-in moves are straight down from above: the overhead track and the overhead spin and rise.
Can I set the altitude or speed?
No. There are no numeric flight controls; the movement is described in words in the shot.
Can it fly over a real city or my address?
No. The place is drawn from your scene description and sheet, not from a map.
Why did my aerial come out as a still shot?
A very slow or vague move can read as no move. Make it clear and say which way it goes, then regenerate that segment.
How long can a drone shot be?
A segment can run up to 15 seconds, or up to 30 on the tiers that take long takes; the shot has to fit inside one place and one segment.
How much does it cost?
Video is priced by the second: 10 credits a second on the default tier, plus 1 credit a second to join the segments.
Is it free to try?
New accounts start with 50 credits. The storyboard is free to write and edit; the free preview is one shot picked for you, once.
Write the shot, then fly it
Draft the aerial on the default tier before you spend a sharper one.
