Open an English project with the site in another language, click a segment and look above its storyboard text: while an edit is being written back you will see Saved. Syncing your edit to the production copy…
Only people who read a storyboard in a different language from the one the project works in — for example, a Japanese interface on an English project. The storyboard you read and edit is a translation; the one video generation reads stays in the project’s working language. Every time you save, your change is translated back. With an English interface on an English project, and on the Chinese site, there is nothing to sync and none of these lines appear. Working in your own language · Interface, script and dialogue language.
| Line above the segment | What is happening | Button |
|---|---|---|
| Translating to your language… | A new or changed segment is being translated for you to read. | — |
| Saved. Syncing your edit to the production copy… | Your save is being translated back. | — |
| Your edit is being synced to the production copy — video generation for this segment resumes in a moment. | You tried to generate while it was still syncing; generation waits for it. | — |
| Your edit could not be synced to the production copy. The previous version is still used for generation. + a reason | Your edit did not make it back. The video would still be made from the text before your edit. | Restore machine translation |
| Not translated + a reason | This segment could not be translated for you to read; the original is shown. | Retry |
| We couldn’t translate it into the production language, so your text is used as written for now. | Your text went into the production copy as you wrote it. | — |
| Reason shown | What went wrong | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| An @ reference (the name after @) was changed or removed — keep those names exactly as they are. | A character, scene or prop chip was edited, retyped or deleted, so it no longer matches the project. | Put the chip back from the @ menu instead of typing the name; save again. |
| The number of shots or their seconds changed — edit the text inside a shot, not the shot headers. | A shot marker or its seconds was added, removed or changed in your language. | Put the shot markers and seconds back as they were and edit only the words inside the shots; or press Restore machine translation and redo the edit that way. |
| A dialogue line or its voice tag changed — keep each line together with its voice tag. | A line and the voice tag after it were split, or a tag was removed. | Keep every line followed by its voice tag; change only the words of the line. |
| The translation came back malformed. Please try again. | A one-off translation error. | Save again. |
| Translation is busy right now; it will retry automatically. | The translation service was busy. | Nothing; it retries on its own. |
| We couldn’t translate it into the production language, so your text is used as written for now. | Usually a segment you inserted and wrote yourself: it could not be translated back, so your own words were kept. | Nothing needed; it is translated again automatically when it can be. Check the segment before generating. |
| Syncing took too long. Save again to retry. | A timeout. | Save again. |
| Something went wrong. Save again to retry. | Any other error. | Save again; if it keeps happening, restore and redo the edit. |
Restore machine translation deletes the translation you edited for this segment and has the segment translated again, fresh, from the production copy — the version that video generation is still using. Your edit in your language is gone after that. Retry on a Not translated line does the same thing: it translates the segment again.
So before you press it, copy the change you wanted (the words, not the chips), restore, then make the change again carefully — inside the shots, keeping chips and voice tags. If the edit was small, fixing the cause and saving again keeps it without restoring.

If the segment shows Your edit could not be synced…, generating now makes the video from the text before your edit. Fix or restore first, wait until the line clears, then generate. If it shows the used as written for now line, the video is made from your own words as typed. The five wait messages · Storyboard text history.
| You did | Likely reason | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Retyped a character’s name | An @ reference was changed | Insert it from the @ menu |
| Added or deleted a shot, or changed seconds | The number of shots or their seconds changed | Put the shots back; edit only inside them |
| Moved a line away from its voice tag | A dialogue line or its voice tag changed | Keep each line with its tag |
| Nothing unusual | Busy, timeout or malformed | Save again, or wait |
The version of the storyboard video generation reads, kept in the project's working language. The storyboard you read in your own language is translated from it, and your saves are translated back into it.
Not at once: your text stays on screen. But video generation keeps using the earlier version until the edit syncs. Fix the reason and save again, or restore and redo the edit.
It deletes your edited translation of this segment and translates the segment again from the version generation uses. Your edit is gone afterwards, so copy the words you wanted first.
Shot markers and seconds have to match between the two versions exactly, so a change to them in the translated text does not sync. Edit only the words inside the shots.
The typo was probably inside a chip, or the name was retyped as plain text. Put the chip back from the @ menu.
You can press generate; the generation waits until the edit has synced, then starts.
No. They only appear when you edit a storyboard in a language different from the project's working language.
No. The language the characters speak is a project setting. Editing in your own language changes only which language you read and write the storyboard in.
Change the words inside the shots, keep the chips, markers and voice tags, and the edit syncs on the first try.
